Lilla Edet

Do you want to make a difference in a dynamic organization where you get to build relationships with people from all over the world?  Are you driven by multidisciplinary engineering challenges and energized by aligning people, technology and operations toward a shared project vision? If yes, then this might be an opportunity just for you!

Essity’s Edet Mill in Lilla Edet is preparing for a significant industrial transformation. Several large-scale modernization and development initiatives are in the pipeline — long-term investments aimed at upgrading core technologies, improving efficiency, and strengthening the mill’s sustainability performance. Among these initiatives are substantial equipment replacements and advanced installation projects that will shape the mill’s production landscape for many years to come.

To lead these complex CAPEX projects, Essity is recruiting a Project Manager with exceptional coordination skills, calm leadership, and proven experience from large multidisciplinary industrial projects. This is a unique opportunity to influence the next generation of our production capabilities.

Essity Edet Mill, with 400 employees, produces approx. 100,000 tonnes of paper per year for the brands Tork and Lotus. We are characterized by a modern organization, which through commitment and competence manufactures products in a sustainable and innovative way. 86% of the paper produced at Edet Bruk is based on recycled fiber. After replacing natural gas with biogas, Edet Bruk is from 2022 the world's first large-scale paper producer to have a completely fossil-free production. The factory consists of several departments such as pulp processing, steam plant, papermaking, conversion and logistics.

About the role

As Project Manager, you will take a central leadership position in some of the mill’s most strategically important modernization and development projects. These are major initiatives involving significant engineering work, advanced installation activities, and close interaction with ongoing production — all within a live and dynamic mill environment.

Your responsibilities will evolve across various project stages: from early concept development and feasibility studies, through detailed engineering and procurement, to on‑site execution, commissioning, and final handover. Throughout, you will ensure alignment, structure, and clarity across all technical disciplines and stakeholder groups.

Main accountabilities and responsibilities

  • Driving multidisciplinary engineering efforts and ensuring strong coordination across civil, mechanical, process, and electrical areas.

  • Managing building and infrastructure interfaces such as construction, utilities, piping, tanks, and process‑related connections.

  • Planning and coordinating construction and installation activities in harmony with ongoing mill operations — minimizing disruption and maximizing safety.

  • Leading safe, controlled execution on-site, supported by solid project controls, documentation, and adherence to Essity’s safety standards.

  • Taking full project ownership from concept through commissioning and stable operational handover.

Who You Are

We believe you have:

  • Proven experience from major industrial projects involving multiple engineering disciplines and several external suppliers.

  • Strong understanding of how large installation, modernization, or replacement projects in process industries are executed — including engineering, construction logic, installation sequencing, and commissioning.

  • Ability to manage high complexity, set priorities, and maintain composure in intensive settings.

  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and documentation skills — you bring structure where others see chaos.

  • Leadership qualities that inspire trust: calm, respectful, solution‑oriented, and never confrontational.

  • Fluency in English; Swedish skills are a strong advantage.

Experience from pulp & paper, tissue, or other large processindustry environments is valuable but not required if you have solid CAPEX project management experience from projects involving several engineering disciplines.
